Grillage Model Wizard (Load)

Enter the loads required to analyze a grillage model. Load cases are automatically generated in an auto-generated model.

From the Main Menu select Structure > Wizard > Grillage Model Wizard > Load

Self Weight: Self weight of the model

Pavement: Weight of pavement. This load is calculated based on the thickness and unit weight of pavement and distributed to the longitudinal members by the Beam Element Loads. The eccentricity between the centroids of load and section is automatically considered.

Barrier: Barrier load

Median Strip: Weight of median strip. When the median strip loads happen to fall between two longitudinal girders, the loads are distributed into those two girders in proportion to the distance from the load to the girder.

Live Load: Vehicular load. The traffic lanes are auto-generated using Grillage Model Wizard. Vehicles and moving load cases need to be defined separately after performing Grillage Model Wizard. Impact factor is automatically considered in case AASHTO Standard is selected for the Moving Load Code.

No. of Lanes: Number of traffic lanes

D1, D2, D3...: Distance from the left-hand end of the top slab to the center line of each lane when you see it from the start point of a bridge to the end point.

Settlement: When Settlement is entered, the settlements by the locations of the auto-generated support settlement group are automatically analyzed.

Temperature: Temperature load

Temperature Gradient: Temperature difference between the top and bottom surfaces of the girder.

Wind Load:

W: Horizontally distributed load to be applied to the centroid of longitudinal member

T: Distributed moment load to be applied to the centroid of longitudinal member
