Rotate Elements

Move or copy existing elements by rotating them about a particular axis.

From the Main Menu select Node/Element > Elements > Rotate.

Shortcut key: [Alt]+4

Click to the right of Rotate Elements: Display the Element Table.

Start Node Number

Assign a starting number of the nodes automatically created in the element generation process. This number is auto-set to the largest node number in use +1. To modify this item, click and select an option to specify a desired number.

Start Element Number

Assign a new starting element number for new elements being created by copy. This number is auto-set to the largest element number in use +1. To modify this item, click and select an option to specify a desired number.

Mode

Copy: To copy elements by rotation

Move: To move elements by rotation

Rotation

Equal Angle: Rotation at an equal increment

Number of Times: Number of times to copy (or move)

Angle of Rotation: Angle by which the existing elements are rotated

> 0: Copy (or move) by rotation according to the right hand rule

< 0: Copy (or move) by rotation in the direction opposite to the right hand rule

Unequal Angle: Rotation at unequal increments

Angle: Unequal angle increments (ex : 20, 10, 3@30, 15 = 20, 10, 30, 30, 30, 15)

Distance (radial) / Distance (axial)

Specify distances in radial and rotational axis directions when copying elements by rotating them by a given rotational angle (spiral or helical curve shape)

Axis of Rotation: Assign the axis of rotation

About x-axis: UCS x-axis

About y-axis: UCS y-axis

About z-axis: UCS z-axis

About axis defined by 2 pts.: A line connecting two points defining the axis of rotation

1st point

Enter the coordinates of a point when About x, y, z axis is selected

Enter the coordinates of the 1st point when
About axis defined by 2 pts. is selected

2nd point

Enter the coordinates of the 2nd point when About axis defined by 2 pts. is selected.

Material Inc.
An increment for Material property numbers while copying elements

: if the field is checked in, the material property number increases by the given increment while the number of copies is repeated.

Section Inc.
An increment for section numbers while copying elements.

: if the field is checked in, the section property number increases by the given increment while the number of copies is repeated

Thickness Inc.
An increment for thickness numbers while copying elements.

: if the field is checked in, the thickness number increases by the given increment while the number of copies is repeated

Intersect
Applicable only for line elements

If Intersect Node is selected and existing nodes are on the created line elements, the elements are divided at the existing nodes.

If Intersect Element is selected and the created line elements intersect with existing line elements, nodes are automatically created and the elements are divided at the intersections.

Copy Node Attributes
Select the option whether to copy the attributes (nodal boundary conditions, nodal concentrated loads, etc.) to the nodes being copied. Click to assign desired attributes selectively.

Copy Element Attributes
Select the option whether to copy the attributes (element boundary conditions, element loads, etc.) to the elements being copied. Click to assign desired attributes selectively.

Rotate Beta Angle
While rotating (or moving) the line elements, assign whether the Beta Angle among the element attributes will be changed relative to the rotational axis.

Specify a merging tolerance to merge newly created nodes and existing nodes.
