Shell Flexural Design

 

 

 

Check the flexural design results in contour for shell members. In order to use this function, Eurocode2:05 must be selected in Design > RC Design >Design Code.

 

 

 

From the Main Menu select Design > Meshed Design > Shell Flexural Design

 

 

 

00-Check.jpg Load Cases/Combinations

Select a desired load combination for which the shell flexural design will be performed. If 'All Combination' is selected, the shell flexural design will be performed for all the load combinations and the results for the critical load combination will be provided for each element.

Select a desired smoothing option for the design of shell.

Element: Display the automatic design results using the internal forces calculated at each node of  the element.

Avg. Nodal: Display the automatic design results using the average internal nodal forces of the contiguous elements sharing common nodes.  

Element: Depending on the selected option above (Element or Avg.Nodal), design moments are determined without averaging within the width.

Width: Depending on the selected option above (Element or Avg.Nodal), design moments are determined by taking average of the moments within the specified width.

Select to check the flexural design results for shell.

Top: Display design results for the top of shell member.

Bottom: Display design results for the bottom of shell member.

Both: Display the worst case between Top and Bottom.

Rebar (Dir. 1): Display design results for the reinforcement in the direction 1.

Rebar (Dir. 2): Display design results for the reinforcement in the direction 2.

Concrete: Display design results for concrete under compression.

 

Membrane Axial Force: Display the axial forces per unit width of the top/bottom layers of the sandwich model.

Membrane Shear Force: Display the in-plane shear forces per unit width of the top/bottom layers of the sandwich model.

Rebar Stress: Display the tensile stresses of reinforcement.

As_req: Display the required area of reinforcement.

Rho_req: Display the required reinforcement ratio.

Rebar Arrangement: Display the bar spacing in contour, which is placed in the plate elements using the standard bar sizes defined in the‘Slab/Shell Rebars for Checking’ menu. .

Resistance Ratio: Display the ratio of the design moment to the moment resistance when the designed rebar spacing is applied.

Principal Comp. Stress: Display the principal compressive stress of concrete.

Ratio: Display the ratio of the principal compressive stress to the design strength of concrete.

 

Design Result/Text Output: Generate the detail design report in a text format. If you select all elements, the design results for the worst case will be reported for each rebar direction of top and bottom. If you select one element, the design results for the selected element will be reported for each rebar direction of top and bottom.

Design Result Table: Generate the summary table of design forces.
