Design Code

Define the design code and strength reduction factors, which will be applied to the calculation of interaction curve.

From the Main Menu select Option > Design Code.

Click 01-DC(i).jpg Design Code in the Icon Menu.

The user can choose one of the following concrete design codes.

Eurocode 2: 04

AASHTO LRFD 12

ACI 318-11

ACI 318-08

CSA-S6-10

GB50010-10

GB50010-02

JTG-D62-2004

KSCE-USD 10

KSCE-USD 05

KSCE-RAIL-USD 11

KCI-USD 07

Note

1. Depending on the specified code, the user may specify some additional options which will affect interaction curves, such as partial safety factors, strength reduction factors, resistance factors etc.

2. Apart from partial safety factors (Eurocode 2) and resistance factors (CSA-S6) for materials, strength reduction factors (ACI-318) and resistance factors (AASHTO-LRFD) for members are not applied to the moment-curvature analysis.

3. When calculating P-M interaction curve for the linear properties of the materials, the rectangular stress block is used as follows:

Design_1.jpg

4. When calculating P-M interaction curve for the actual nonlinear stress-strain curve of the materials, the concrete compressive strain at the ultimate state is assumed as follows:

0.0035 for Eurocode 2: 04, CSA-S6-10

0.003 for AASHTO LRFD 12, ACI 318-08/11

5. If a nonlinear material model of concrete is selected from the Material Data, the P-M interaction curve is calculated based on the actual stress-strain curve of the material. If any nonlinear material model is not selected, the P-M interaction curve is calculated based on the rectangular stress block.

0-check.jpgPartial Safety Factor (Eurocode 2: 04)

Gamma c: Partial factor for concrete. The recommended values for 'persistent & transient' design situation is "1.5".

Gamma s: Partial factor for reinforcing steel. The recommended values for 'persistent & transient' design situation is "1.15".

Alpha cc: Coefficient taking account of long term effects on the compressive strength and of unfavorable effects resulting from the way the load is applied.
