Strong Column-Weak Beam Ratio Table

Check the flexural capacity ratio of the beam-column joint in a spreadsheet format table after designing reinforced concrete beam and column.

Table Tool in MIDAS/Gen offers a variety of powerful built-in functions. Refer to the following items for detail directions:

From the Main Menu select Design > RC Strong Column-Weak Beam > Strong Column-Weak Beam Ratio Table.

Select the nodes for which flexural capacity ratio of beam-column joint is to be displayed, from the Records Activation Dialog.

Refer to Usage of Table Tool and check the following data:

Strong Column-Weak Beam Ratio Table (Angle (Global Axis))

Angle (Global Axis)

Node: Node number (node at the beam-column joint)

LCB: Load combination of the minimum  flexural capacity ratio among beam-column design load combinations

Column Strength: Sum of the flexural capacities of all the columns connected to the joint

Clockwise, Counter-Clockwise: Clockwise/counter-clockwise direction relative to the node at joint

Beam Strength: Sum of the flexural capacities of all the beams connected to the joint

Ratio: Ratio of the flexural capacity of the column to that of the beam at the joint

Minimum Ratio: The lesser of the flexural capacity ratio about the clockwise direction and the flexural capacity ratio about the

counter-clockwise direction

Remark: Specify whether the acceptance limit for reinforced column-to-beam flexural capacity ratio at the joint is satisfied or not.

Note

Acceptance Limit for RC C/B Flexural Capacity Ratio can be specified by the user. (“Input Acceptance Limit Value”)

Note

When the “Angle (Global Axis)” option is used, the user can enter the angle based on which the flexural capacity ratio will be calculated. However, it is advisable to check the capacity ratio based on the seismic load direction which has been entered for performing structural analysis.

Strong Column-Weak Beam  Ratio Table (Column Local Axis)

Column Local Axis

Node: Node number (node at the beam-column joint)

LCB: Load combination of the minimum  flexural capacity ratio among the beam-column design load combinations

Column Local Axis: Local axis of the lower column at the joint

Column Strength: Sum of the flexural capacities of all the columns connected to the joint

Clockwise, Counter-Clockwise: Clockwise/counter-clockwise direction relative to the node at joint

Beam Strength: Sum of the flexural capacities of all the beams connected to the joint

Ratio: Ratio of the flexural capacity of column to that of the beam at the joint
