Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT)

Use this function to enter the Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT) required for calculating the allowable bending stress or the design strength of the compression flange subjected to the bending moment about the strong axis (y-axis).

From the Main Menu select Design > Design > Cold Formed steel Design > Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT)

First, select the members in the model and enter the following :

Option

Select Add/Replace or Delete.

Add/Replace: Add the newly entered value or replace the previously entered value.

Delete: Delete the entered value. Data entry is not required when deleting.

Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT)

Only for Eurocode, enter the bending coefficient(CmLT) [Default = 1.0] (refer to Note 1)

For other code, it is  expressed by ‘Bending Coefficient(Cb)’.

Calculate by Program
Select this item if the value is to be auto-calculated by the program (refer to
Note 2).

: Apply the entered value to the selected members.

: Close the entry Dialog Bar.

Note 1
If the value of the Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT) is not entered, the default value of CmLT = 1.0 is applied.

Note 2
When the value of the Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT) is auto-calculated by the program, the moments about the member's strong axis at both ends are used.

Note 3
When the v
alue of the Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT) is repeatedly entered for the same members, the value will be updated to the last value entered.

Note 4
The entered values for
the Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT) can be reviewed in the data table arranged in the order of element numbers. The user may Modify/Add and Delete items in the data table.

Access the data table following the procedure below.

From the Main Menu select Design > Steel Design Parameter > Cold Formed steel Design > Cold Formed steel Design Table > Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT)

From the Tables tab of the Tree Menu select Design Tables > Cold Formed steel Design Table > Equivalent Moment Factor (CmLT)
