Shell Flexural Design

Check the flexural design results for shell elements in contour. Also check the resulting bending moments and the design results of reinforcement along the specified Cutting Lines.

Note
In order to use this function, Eurocode2:05 must be selected in Design > Concrete Design Parameter > Design Code.

From the Main Menu select Design > Design > Meshed Slab/Wall/shell Design > Shell Flexural Design

  Load Cases/ Combinations

Select a desired load case or load combination. Click  to the right to enter new or modify existing load combinations. (Refer to "Static Load Cases / Combinations")

  Flexural Design

Select to check the flexural design results for a shell.

Element: Display the automatic design results using the internal forces calculated at each node of  the element.

Avg. Nodal: Display the automatic design results using the average internal nodal forces of the contiguous elements sharing common nodes.

Element: Depending on the selected option above (Element or Avg.Nodal), produce the automatic design results for moments at each node of the elements that define the shell.

Width: Depending on the selected option above (Element or Avg.Nodal), produce the automatic design results using the average of the moments in the shell elements that contain the selected node.

Top: Design top bars for negative moments.

Bottom: Design bottom bars for positive moments.

Both: Produce the larger of the Top and Bottom bars.

Rebar (Dir. 1) : Display the shell design results for the reinforcing steel entered in Dir. 1.

Rebar (Dir. 2) : Display the shell design results for the reinforcing steel entered in Dir. 2.

Concrete : Display the shell design results for Concrete

Type of Display

Define the type of display as follows:

Components

Membrane Axial Force

Display the axial forces per unit width of the top/ bottom layers of the sandwich model.

Membrane Shear Force

Display the in-plane shear forces per unit width of the top/ bottom layers of the sandwich model.

Rebar Stress

Display the tensile stresses of reinforcement.

As_req(mm^2/m)

Display the area of the required reinforcement.

Rho_req

Display the required reinforcement ratio.

Rebar Arrangement

Display the  bar spacing in contour, which is placed in the plate elements using the standard bar sizes defined in the ‘Slab/ Wall/ Shell Rebars for Checking’ menu.

Resistance Ratio

The ratio of the design moment to the moment resistance when the designed rebar spacing is applied.

Operations

: Produce the detail flexural design results of shell elements in a text format.

: Produce the flexural design forces of shell elements in a tabular format.
