Modify Member Type

Enter the type of members used in the design of steel and RC members.

From the Main Menu select Design > General > General Design Parameter > Modify Member Type.

First, select the members in the model and enter the following:

Option

Select Add/Replace or Delete.

Add/Replace: Add the newly entered type or update the previously entered type.

Delete: Delete the entered type. Data entry is not required when deleting.

Member Type (refer to Note 1)

Enter the member type to be used in design.

Beam: Beam member

Column: Column member

Brace: Brace member

 : Apply the entered type to the selected members.

 : Close the entry Dialog Bar.

Note 1
For member types not defined by the user, the program defines the member types according to the following by comparing the coordinates of the two nodes of each member:

Column members: Members with the local x-axis parallel to the GCS Z-axis

Beam members: Members with the local x-axis parallel to GCS X-Y plane

Brace members: All other members except for column and beam members

Note 2
When the member type is repeatedly defined for the same member, the type will be updated to the last type entered.

Note 3
The entered member types can be reviewed in the data table arranged in the order of element numbers. The user may Modify/Add and Delete items in the data table.

Access the data table following the procedure below.

From the Main Menu select Design > General Design Parameter > General Design Tables > Modify Member Type.

From the Tables tab of the Tree Menu select Design Tables > General Design > Modify Member Type.
