Element Convection Boundary

Define the boundary condition for heat transfer due to convection by assigning the surface of solid elements.

From the Main Menu select Load > Heat of Hydration > Heat of Hydration Analysis Data >Convection Boundary > Element Convection Boundary.

Boundary Group Name

Select the Boundary Group Name, which contains the entered boundary condition. Select "Default" if a Group definition is unnecessary. Click the button to the right to prompt the Define Boundary Group dialog box to add or modify groups.

Option

Add/Replace
Enter a new or modify a convection boundary condition.

Delete
Delete previously defined convection boundary conditions.

Convection Boundary

Specify a convection coefficient function and an ambient temperature function.

Convection Coefficient Function: Select a predefined function.

Ambient Temperature Function: Select a predefined function.

Selection

The convection boundary condition is specified with respect to the surface of solid elements. Specify the face of the selected solid elements by the following:

Face#: Specify the (surface) face # of the selected solid elements, which is determined by the order of the element generation. The selection is highlighted on the model, which allows us to ensure that the current selection is correct.

By Selected Nodes: Select the face of the solid elements, which is defined by user-defined nodes.
