Data

List the specified Preliminary Analysis cases with the indicator for whether or not to perform the calculations.

Select All

Select all the Preliminary Analysis cases on the list.

Unselect All

Unselect all the Preliminary Analysis cases on the list.

Analysis

Execute the Preliminary Analysis for all the Preliminary Analysis cases selected on the list.

Preliminary Analysis Case

Specify the conditions for each Preliminary Analysis case.

Name

Title of the Preliminary Analysis case.

Embankment

Specify the Ground Material Property of the embankment layer for Preliminary Analysis. If the property has not been previously defined, click image166.gif to define the property.  Only "Embankment" material property can be used as embankment layer.

Embankment Layer Thickness

Enter the thickness cases of the embankment layers to be checked.

Landfill

Specify the Ground Material Property of the landfill for Preliminary Analysis. If the property has not been previously defined, click image166.gif to define the property. Only "Sand" material property can be used as landfill. If the landfill option is checked, specified thickness of landfill is arranged between embankment and weak layer.

Weak Layer

Specify the Ground Material Property of the soft ground layer for Preliminary Analysis. If the property has not been previously defined, click image166.gif to define the property. Only "Clay" material property can be used as weak layer.

Weak Layer Thickness

Enter the thickness cases of the soft ground layers to be checked.

Water Level

Define the use and location of water level. if this option is checked, the water level will be considered for the Preliminary Analysis. The entered value is applied as GL (-). For instance, if the 5m is entered, GL (-) 5m is applied as the water level. (GL 0m is the elevation of embankment basement.)

Total Calculation Days

Specify the duration in days for consolidation calculation.

Condition for Judging Soft Ground (N-value)

Specify the condition for classifying soft ground for Preliminary Analysis.

Clay

Specify SPT N-value, which will become the basis for determining the soft ground of clayey soil.

Preliminary Analysis Results

Analyze the results of the Preliminary Analysis case.

Result Analysis

Select the Preliminary Analysis results which will be analyzed.

Total Settlement

The Total Settlement graph resulting from the soft ground layers’ thicknesses by embankment heights is generated.

(X-Axis: Soft Ground Layer Thickness, Y-Axis: Total Settlement, Case: Embankment Height)

Consolidation Period

The Consolidation Period graph resulting from the soft ground layers’ thicknesses by the degrees of consolidation is generated.

(X-Axis: Soft Ground Layer Thickness, Y-Axis: Consolidation Period, Case: Degree of Consolidation)

Embankment Layer Thickness

Select the embankment case previously defined from the list.

Generated Settlement

Print out the result graph of generated settlement based on weak layer thickness with embankment layer height.

(X-Axis: Weak Layer Thickness, Y-Axis: Generated Settlement, Case: Embankment Height)

Improvement Period

Specify the improvement period for the weak layer. In order to calculate the generated settlement, the improvement period should be specified. Initial default value is specified as the total calculation days.

Chart Redraw

Produce the graph of generated settlement during the specified Improvement Period.

Residual Settlement

The Residual Settlement graph resulting from the soft ground layers’ thicknesses by embankment heights is generated.

(X-Axis: Soft Ground Layer Thickness, Y-Axis: Residual Settlement, Case: Embankment Height)

Improvement Period

Specify the Improvement Period for which the Residual Settlement needs to be checked.

Chart Redraw

Produce the graph of residual settlement during the specified Improvement Period.

Note: Consolidation settlement period must be specified for residual settlement calculation. The default is set to the Total Calculation Days.
