Ultimate Story Shear Check
|
|
|
Check or modify the safety of a structure by means of the story shear forces due to applied static seismic loads and the ultimate story shear forces of designed vertical members, in a spreadsheet format table. This function is available only when there are design results of vertical members present.
When the ratios exceed the allowable limit, they appear in red and 'Irregular'is printed in the Remark.
Table Tool in midas Gen offers a variety of powerful built-in functions. Refer to Usage of Table Tool for detail directions. |

Story: Story number
Load Case: Static Seismic Load Case or Response Spectrum Load Case
Applied Shear Force(Ve): Story Shear Force due to applied static seismic loads
Clockwise, Counter-Clockwise: Ultimate Shear Force about the clockwise/counter-clockwise direction with reference to the node at the beam-column joint
Ultimate Shear Force(Vp): Ultimate Story Shear Force for designed vertical members
Ratio: Ratio of Ultimate Shear Force to Applied Shear Force (Vp/Ve)
Beta: Ratio of Story Shear Force Ratio at the corresponding story to Story Shear Force Ratio at the upper story
MIN(Beta1, Beta2): The lesser of Beta1 and Beta2
Remark: If the Ratio exceeds Allowable Limit (0.8), NG is printed, otherwise OK is printed.
Input angle and press 'Apply' button to change angle: Input the angle of a shear force component (Angle), and click the button. You are able to observe the Story Shear Force Ratio (Clockwise, Counter-clockwise).
Note Applied Shear Force in the direction of Angle is available for load cases in the same direction. In example, in case that the load case EX and EY are selected in the direction of angle as 0 in the Ultimate Story Shear Force Table, result data of the load case EX are only valid. In short, in order to observe the Ultimate Story Shear Force about load case EY, the angle should be taken as 90.
