Vertical Member Drift

Check deflection of Beam, Column and Brace with respect to user defined limit for specific Load Set and Load Combinations. This function does not cover Plate, Sub Beam and Sub Column.

ΆΖ Detail Description

< Limit of Relative Displacement Dialog >

Drift Check Parameter

Enter the parameters to check drift on vertical members which vary with seismic resistance system of structure.

Analysis Case : Select analysis case to be checked.

Load Set: Select Load Set to check Drift.

Check Linked Load Set : Select this option to check linked load set in vertical direction.

For the information about linked seismic load, please refer to the information described in following sections:

[Load] Tab > [Lateral] > [Static Seismic] > Static Seismic Load Link

[Load] Tab > [Lateral] > [Response Spectrum] > Response Spectrum Link

Deflection Amplification Factor (Cd)

Importance Factor (Ie)

Allowable Drift Ratio

By Stability Coefficient (Ad) : Enter Stability Coefficient to consider the effect of 2nd order effect without running P-Delta analysis. If P-Delta effect is not considered or P-Delta analysis is to be performed, Ad value is inputted as 1.

Tool Bar

Major Direction / Ortho. Direction : If 'Auto Search for Critical Direction' of Direction option in Response Spectrum Load is used, Drift results of major direction of seismic load will be used.

Global X, Global Y : Drift results in Global X and Y direction will be outputted regardless the direction of seismic loading.

All : Display analysis results of all members in table format.

Sel : Display the table of analysis results of selected members only in table format.

By Member / By Design Group : Displacement of all Column will be checked if 'By Member' is selected. Table of maximum values of members in specific Design Group will be shown if 'By Design Group' is selected.

Seismic Load Set-1 (Select Load Set) : Select Load Set to check Drift.

Parameter : Change default values in Drift Check Parameter dialog.

Table Composition

Displacement : Displacement value due to unfactored seismic load. If P-Delta analysis is performed, displacement due to P-Delta analysis will be included.

Drift : Drift value of vertical member which Cd(Deflection Amplification Factor) is multiplied and Ie(Importance Factor) is divided to Displacement.

Drift Ratio : Ratio of Drift value to the length of member

Allowable Ratio : Allowable ratio of story drift defined in Drift Check Parameter dialog.

Remark : Compare Drift Ratio of Column with Allowable Ratio. If Drift Ratio is larger than Allowable Ratio, 'N.G' will be outputted and O.K for the opposite case.
