Utilization of Snap

GTS provides various snap functions for high accessibility of data input.

All the snap functions are located in the Snap Toolbar.

<Snap Toolbar Configuration>

Grid Snap

Snap at grid points of the Work Plane.

Vertex Snap

Snap at vertex of a geometric entity.

End Snap

Snap at both ends of an Edge.

Middle Snap

Snap at the mid-point of an Edge.

Perpendicular Snap

Snap at a point on an Edge, perpendicular to the previous point.

Center Snap

Snap at the center of a circle or arc.

Quadrant Snap

Snap at quarterly divided points of a circle or arc.

Intersection Snap

Snap at the intersecting point of two Edges.

Node Snap

Snap at Nodes.

Off All Snaps (Ctrl+X)

Turn off all snaps.

Lock Snap

Only snapped points will be entered as a valid data entry.

When using some of snap functions, such as End Snap and Middle Snap, the user must select the relevant Edge instead of selecting the actual vertex. Therefore, one must select an Edge which can clearly define the end or middle point.

In GTS, although snap functions are turned on, the user is allowed to select a point other than the snapped points.  Lock Snap will block such a point selection at unsnapped position.

The user can control the snap sensitivity by change values of "Selection & Snap Sensitivity" and "Grid Snap Sensitivity" which are located in Environment-View in Main Menu > Tools > Preference. As the value increases, it becomes easier to detect the snap value. However, if the snap sensitivity value is too high, it will blur the snapping accuracy. Therefore, the user should be careful when changing the snap sensitivity.

When too many snap functions are on, it may be difficult to snap at the desired position due to the other snap detections. In such a case, the user must turn off the unnecessary snap functions.
