<Offset from Plane>
Input parameters vary depending on how a Datum Plane is to be defined.
<Offset from Plane>
Select Plane Create a new Datum Plane parallel with a selected
plane (Datum Plane or Face) at a specified distance in the direction normal
to the selected plane. Distance Enter the offset distance.
Name Enter
the name of the Datum Plane to be created. |
<Thru 3 Points>
<Thru 3 Points>
Select Point 1 & Select Point 2 & Select Point 3 Create a Datum Plane, which is defined by three selected point. |
<Thru Point & Line>
<Thru Point & Line>
Select Point & Select Line Create a Datum Plane, which is defined by a Point and a Line (Datum Axis or Edge). |
<Thru Point & Parallel Plane>
<Thru Point & Parallel Plane>
Select Point & Select Plane Create a Datum Plane, which passes through a selected Point and is parallel with a selected plane (Datum Plane, Face or Edge). |
<Thru Point & Normal>
<Thru Point& Normal>
Select Point & Select Normal Vector Create a Datum Plane, which passes through a selected Point and is normal to a selected direction (Datum Axis, Datum Plane, Face or Edge). |
<Thru Line & Angle to Plane>
<Thru Line & Angle to Plane>
Select Line & Select Plane Create
a Datum Plane, which contains a selected line (Datum Axis or Edge) and
forms an angle with a selected plane (Datum
Plane, Face or Edge). Angle Enter the angle between the new Datum Plane to be created and the selected reference plane. |
<Thru Line & Parallel Line/Plane>
<Thru Line & Parallel Line/Plane>
Select Line & Select Parallel Line/Plane Create a Datum Plane, which contains a selected line (Datum Axis or Edge) and is parallel with another selected line/plane. The selected plane must satisfy the parallel condition. |
<Normal to Planar Edge>
<Normal to Planar Edge>
Select Edge Create a Datum Plane by selecting an Edge such as a circle, which can define a plane. |
<Normal to Edge> |
<Normal to Edge>
Select Edge & Select Point Create a Datum Plane at the start or end vertex of a Curve, which is perpendicular to the Curve at the vertex. |

Notes |
Most of the commands used in defining reference planes support Datum Plane and Face. If a model contains reference faces, which can represent to define such planes, Datum Planes need not be created. Changing the locations of the entities (Point, Edge or Plane), which were used to define a Datum Plane, will result in the change of the Datum Plane definition (location and direction).
