Select Solid to Trim

Select a Solid to be trimmed. Here, the Selection Filter is fixed to Shape, and only Solid can be selected.

Select Trim Surface

Select a surface (Datum Plane, Shape), which will become the basis for a cutting surface.  If the Trim Surface consists of multiple Faces, user must combine them together and select here as a single Shell.

Select Reference Point

Select a vertex on the side of the solid, which will be removed, relative to the Trim Surface.

Example

Procedure:

1)  Select Solid to divide directly from the work window.

2)  Select the cutting plane as the "Tool Surface."

3) Click "Apply."

4)  Trimmed solid has been created and a division line can be seen.

Note:  If there are surrounding shapes when the "Trim" operation is carried out, then the "Divide Touching Faces of Neighbors" is required to ensure nodal connectivity between the two divided surface and surrounding shapes.  This can be confirmed by noting the division line, which divides the cylinder, has been imprinted on the adjacent shapes,
