Heat Transfer Analysis: Heat Flux

Function

Define the Heat Flux Rate to be applied to the element(s) in the structure.

The concept of the relation between Heat Flow and Heat Flux in Heat Transfer Analysis is same as the relation between Point Load and Pressure Load in Static Analysis.

Call

<Heat Flow Rate>

Load Set

Select a Load Set in which the Heat Flux will be added/
Click to prompt the Define Load Set dialog box to add, modify or delete the Load Set. If the user types the name of the Load Set directly in the entry box, the program will automatically create the relevant Load Set.

Type

Select the type of Heat Flux (Face Flux/Edge Flux).

Object

Select the element(s) where loads will be assigned.

Mode

Add

Add a new Heat Flux to selected element(s).

Replace

Replace previously defined Heat Flux on selected element(s).

Delete

Delete previously defined Heat Flux on selected element(s).

Apply to Unassigned Objects Only

When adding new loads, this option applies loads to unassigned node(s)/element(s) only.

Heat Flux Function

The Hear Flux Function is defined using 'Heat Flux Function.' Click to prompt the Create/Modify Function dialog box.

Uniform

Activate this option to uniformly apply Heat Flux.

Base Fuction

Define/select the Base Function here. Click to prompt the Create/Modify Function dialog box.

Scale Factor

If Heat Flux is not uniformly applied to an element, the user can enter the scale factor for each nodes. Do not activate the Uniform option in this case.
