Train Load Generator

Train Load Generator extracts and plots graphs of time-forcing function of high speed train. Also, dynamic nodal loads can be created to perform time-history analysis. This feature is intended for the vibration check of long span bridges due to fast moving train load.

Time-forcing functions can be generated without considering the lengths of the elements along the track. The nodal spacing along the track is automatically detected by the program.

This function replaces Tools>Generator>Data Generator>Train Load Generator in the previous versions.

From the Main Menu select Load > Dynamic Loads >  Time History Analysis Data > Train Load Generator

    1.
    2. Define Tracks

      1. 2 points: Beam elements in a line defined by 2 points are assigned as traffic line lane elements. The first point becomes the Start point.

      2. Picking: Assign the traffic line lane elements with the mouse. The location of the first-assigned element becomes the Start point.

      3. Number: Enter the element numbers pertaining to the traffic line lane elements. The location of the first-assigned elements becomes the start point.

    3. Operations

      1. The data entry is reflected when Selection by Number is selected

      2. Add : Add to the selected elements.

      3. Insert : Insert the selected  elements in between the previously entered elements.

      4. Delete : Select the  elements at the bottom of the dialog box and delete.

    4. Dynamic Load Case

      1. Select the dynamic load case from the drop-down, to which the dynamic nodal loads will be added.

    5. Name

      1. Enter the name of time-forcing function. Depending on the nodal spacing, a number of time-forcing functions will be generated. The name of each function will be Name_f001, Name_f002, Name_f003, ...

    6.   Vehicle Code

      1. If Korea is selected in the vehicle code:

    7. Vehicle type: Vehicle load can be selected from the drop-down list.

      1. If User-defined is selected in the vehicle code, then the vehicle needs to be defined manually. The length for the first axle should be zero.:

    8. Add: Add a new set of length and force.

    9. Modify: Modify existing data.

    10. Delete: Delete an existing data.

    11. Insert: Insert a new data between two existing data.

    12. Length: Spacing between 2 axle loads

    13. Force: Value of axle load

    14.   Train Velocity

      1. Enter the train velocity. Unit is fixed as km/h.

    15.   Scaling

      1. Scale Factor::Scale factor to be provided to time-forcing function

    16.   Time

      1. Start Time: Start time of time-forcing function

    17. Open

      1. Open an existing train load generator file.

    18.   Save as

      1. Save the current train load generator file.

    19.   Import

      1. When user-defined is selected, train axle loads can be imported using Excel format.

      2. No. Length (m), Force (kN)

    20.   Show Graph

      1. Display the time-forcing function of dynamic train load for each node.
