Function
Use this function to enter the Bending Coefficient required for calculating the allowable bending stress or the design strength of the compression flange subjected to the bending moment about the strong axis (y-axis).
Call
From the Main Menu select Design > Steel Design Parameter > Bending Coefficient (Cb).
From the Menu tab of the Tree Menu select Design > Steel Design Parameter > Bending Coefficient (Cb).
Entry
First, select the members in the model and enter the following :
Select Add/Replace or Delete.
Add/Replace: Add the newly entered value or replace the previously entered value.
Delete:
Delete the entered value. Data entry is not required when deleting.
Bending CoefficientEnter the bending coefficient. Cb: Bending coefficient [Default = 1.0] (refer to Note 1) Calculate
by Program |
: Apply the entered value to the selected members.
: Close the entry Dialog Bar.
Note
1
If the value of the bending coefficient (Cb) is not entered, the default
value of Cb = 1.0 is applied.
Note
2
When the value of the bending coefficient (Cb) is auto-calculated by the
program, the moments about the member's strong axis at both ends are used.
Note
3
When the value of the bending coefficient (Cb) is repeatedly entered for
the same members, the value will be updated to the last value entered.
Note
4
The entered values for the bending coefficient (Cb) can be reviewed in
the data table arranged in the order of element numbers. The user may
Modify/Add and Delete items in the data table.
Access the data table following the procedure below.
From the Main Menu select Design > Steel Design Parameter > Steel Design Tables > Bending Coefficient(Cb).
From the Tables tab of the Tree Menu select Design Tables > Steel Design Table > Bending Coefficient(Cb).
