Shear Coefficient (Cv)

Use this function to enter the Shear Coefficient (Cv) required to calculate the design shear strength or the allowable shear stress due to the shear force in I and C sections in the strong axis direction (z-direction).

From the Main Menu select Design > Steel Design Parameter > Shear Coefficient (Cv).

From the Menu tab of the Tree Menu select Design > Steel Design Parameter > Shear Coefficient (Cv).

First, select the members in the model and enter the following :

Option

Select Add/Replace or Delete.

Add/Replace: Add the newly entered value or replace the previously entered value.

Delete: Delete the entered value. Data entry is not required when deleting.

Shear Coefficient

Enter the shear coefficient.

Cv: Shear coefficient

Calculate by Program
Select this item if the value is to be auto-calculated by the program.

: Apply the entered value to the selected members.

: Close the entry Dialog Bar.

Note 1
When the value of the shear coefficient (Cv) is repeatedly entered for the same members, the value will be updated to the last value entered.

Note 2
The entered values for the shear coefficient (Cv) can be reviewed in the data table arranged in the order of element numbers. The user may Modify/Add and Delete items in the data table.

Access the data table following the procedure below.

From the Main Menu select Design > Steel Design Parameter > Steel Design Tables > Shear Coefficient (Cv).

From the Tables tab of the Tree Menu select Design Tables > Steel Design Table > Shear Coefficient (Cv).
