A linear elastic model where
the stress is directly proportional to strain. The proportionality
constants are the Elasticity modulus ( ) and Poisson’s ratio ( ).

<Linear elastic-stress strain
behavior>
Since the yield value is not defined, the calculated
stress and strain of the linear elastic model can be highly
unrealistic. Hence, it is recommended that the Mohr-Coulomb
or other nonlinear material models be used for general
analysis. However, this model is appropriate in modeling
concrete or structural steel structures, which have a
much higher strength than the ground. |
