Edge Seed

Input the Seed Data to define the size and spacing of element mesh. The density is defined prior to mesh generation.

Seeding becomes useful if the user wishes to control the mesh in a desired pattern more so than mesh generated by Auto Mesh or Smart Mesh. If Map Mesh is used to generate mesh then, seeding information along the edges enclosing a domain must be defined.

From the Main Menu, select Model > Mesh > Edge Seed

From the Command Line, type 'EdgeSeed' or 'ES'

Select Curve(s)

Select curve(s) along which seeds are to be provided.

Seeding Method

Select the method of seeding edges.

Division Interval

Enter the length of an element.

No. of Divisions

Enter the number of divisions, which will determine the element size.

Linear Grading (Length)

Enter the lengths at the start and the end and the number of divisions. The intermediate lengths are linearly varied.

Linear Grading (Ratio)

Enter the ratio of the end length to the start length and the number of divisions. The intermediate lengths are linearly varied.

Symmetric Seed

Check on this option to symmetrically seed the selected edges.

Name

Enter the name of the seeding edge.

Click Preview to check the seeding information.

Click to reset the dialog box.

Click to generate Seed data and automatically close the dialog box.

Click or press the ESC key to close the dialog box.

Click to generate Seed data. After seed data is generated, the work process will switch to the state of Select Curve(s) upon clicking.
